Designing a luxury car dealership presents a first-rate architectural challenge: the building must simultaneously serve as a brand showcase, a functional space for vehicle display and technical service, and a corporate image projected to the urban streetscape. For the official Mercedes-Benz and Smart Benet dealership in Málaga, Santos Arquitectos developed a proposal that integrates the brand's visual identity within a contemporary architecture of solidity and precision.
The functional programme is structured into three distinct areas. The showroom, with a large single open-plan floor, allows flexible vehicle arrangement and features skylights and glazed facades that flood the space with natural light. The workshop and service area, with independent access, responds to industrial criteria of operational efficiency, with adequate clear heights for working on vehicles and separate traffic flow management. The reception and office area, designed to a finishing standard in keeping with the brand's clientele, completes the complex with personalised service spaces and administrative management facilities.
The Benet dealership, now operating under the name Mercedes-Benz Caetano, is an example of how commercial architecture can go beyond a simple functional container to become an instrument of brand communication. This project reflects the versatility of Santos Arquitectos studio, equally capable of tackling residential, hotel or commercial programmes with rigour in the context of Málaga architecture.
