Historic Centre, Málaga
The Convento de las Catalinas Student Residence is one of the studio's most significant heritage rehabilitation projects, currently under development. Located in the historic centre of Málaga, the convent — of Baroque origin — is projected to be rehabilitated and adapted as a university residence, combining respect for the historic fabric with contemporary functional requirements.
The proposal plans to retain the most valuable elements of the convent complex: the facade, the central courtyard with its galleries and the monumental staircase. The interior programme incorporates single and double rooms, study areas, a common room and residence services, organised in a way that preserves the spatial experience of the original cloister.
The project requires close coordination with heritage specialists from the Junta de Andalucía and the Málaga City Council, and stands as an example of how the rehabilitation of historic buildings can generate social and cultural value while responding to contemporary needs for student housing and university life.
